How Your Car Works
It is important that you have some knowledge
about how you car works. This can help you diagnosis problems if and when
they occur. You may not always be able to fix the problem yourself but it
will greatly help you explain the problem to your auto technician. Understanding the type of repairs that are going to be performed and why it is
being performed can save you a lot of money.
If you are taking
your car the dealership where you purchased the car you will probably be giving this information to a service
writer at the service desk. Be sure to be specific about what you want
repair. Make sure they write all of your information on the service order.
If your car is no
longer under warranty it will probably be less expensive for you to take your car to an independent repair
shop. Like the dealership, be sure to be specific about what you want
repair. Make a list, and if possible, give it directly to
the technician who will be working on you car. You can also request that they return to you any parts they
replace. Have them put the used part in the box the new part came
in.
You need to shop
around a little to find the right repair facility that you can work with. Be sure to check them out with the Better Business Bureau. Get recommendations from friend and relatives. Make
sure that they require that their technicians be
ASE (USA), Red Seal (Canada) certified.
