Bench Vise
Bench Grinder

Two types of wheels are available with the bench grinder.
- Grinding wheel - used for a wide variety of grinding jobs from sharpening cutting
tool to deburring.
- Wire wheel brush - used for general cleaning and buffing, removing rust, scale, and
paint, and deburring.
Drill Press
- The drill press consisting of:
- a motor to turn the drill bit
- The drill press is used to bore holes in precise locations at precise
angles.
Air Compressor
- If you are going to use air powered tool you must have an air compressor.
- How large an compress you need is determined by the number of air tools you using and
the amount of air volume you need to operate those tools.
Impact Wrenches
- An impact wrench is a portable reversible wrench. A heavy-duty model can deliver up to
450 foot-pounds of torque.
- An impact wrench uses compressed air to hammer or impact a nut or bolt loose or
tight.
Air Ratchet
- An air ratchet is like a hand ratchet.
- An air ratchet allows you to work faster and easier.
- Air ratchets are not torque sensitive, therefore, a torque wrench should used
on all fasteners after snugging them up with air ratchet.
Drills
- Drills are usually available in 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" (larger the number, the larger the
drill).
- Drills can electrical or air operated.
- Air drills are smaller and lighter. Their small size makes them easier to use for
drilling operations in automotive work.
Blowgun
- Blow guns are used for blowing off parts during cleaning.
- A blow gun snaps into one end of an air hose and directs airflow when a button is
pressed
Trouble Light
- Adequate light is necessary when working under and around
automobiles.
Floor Jacks
- Floor jacks are used to raise a vehicle off the ground and are available in
two basic designs and in a variety of sizes.
- The most common jack is a hydraulic floor jack.
- Floor jacks are classified by the weight it can lift. 1,1/2, 2, 2 1/2 ton
and so on.
Safety Stands
Engine Hoist
- Engine hoist, sometimes called a cherry picker, is used to lift an engine from a
vehicle.
- It uses hydraulic pressure to lift the engine.
Lifts
- Lifts are used to raise a vehicle so work can be done under the vehicle.
- The lift arms must be placed under the manufacture's recommended lifting points
prior to raising a vehicle.
